History
Herrick-Saylor Engineers was formed in 1989 as a successor to Samsel Engineering, which began in 1982. The name was changed in 1991 to our current name, with Mr. Floyd O. Herrick Jr., P.E., and Mr. Jay R. Saylor, P.E., as the principal partners.
A change in company ownership occurred in 2011, with Mr. Jay R. Saylor, P.E., and Mr. David T. Finkbeiner, P.E., as the principal partners. Mr. Herrick continues to bring his wealth of expertise to the firm as a Senior Project Manager.
The firm has remained a structural consulting engineering firm since the beginning. Building design, structural repair, and restoration are some of the many services we offer. Our expert knowledge has been utilized on many projects, both locally and throughout the United States.
MR. JAY R. SAYLOR, P.E.
Mr. Saylor brings knowledge of all aspects in building design. His degree in Architectural Engineering from Penn State provides a broad base for evaluating the needs of each member in the design team. His construction management experience makes him an exceptional team leader.
MR. DAVID T. FINKBEINER, P.E.
Mr. Finkbeiner brings a wide range of structural engineering experience to the firm. In addition to his degree in engineering from Clarkson University, he has a Masters in Business Administration degree in Technology Management from the Rochester Institute of Technology. This varied training enables Mr. Finkbeiner to effectively and efficiently manage both the technical and administrative aspects of a project.
MR. FLOYD O. HERRICK JR., P.E.
Mr. Herrick brings over 45 years of experience in structural engineering and materials science. In addition to his degree in engineering from Clarkson University, he has a Masters of Science degree in Soil Mechanics and Structural design. Mr. Herrick brings a wide scope of experience to the firm with expertise in concrete and masonry structures.
